Description of key information

Hydrolysis is not relevant due to ready biodegradability of the substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No experimental studies investigating the abiotic hydrolysis of Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, 2-ethylhexylesters (CAS No. 68334-05-4) are available. However, in accordance with Annex VIII, column 2 (subsection 9.2.2.1) of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, testing for hydrolysis as a function of pH is not required since the substance is readily biodegradable. In addition, QSAR calculations (HYDROWIN v2.00) indicate, that hydrolysis can indeed be considered a negligible pathway for the fate of the substance in the environment, with a DT50 value (pH 7) > 1 yr (Erler, 2013).
