Description of key information

No toxic effects up to the limit of water solubility (< 1 mg/L) for Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (OECD 201).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Two studies with the freshwater algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata are available for Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, 2-ethylhexyl esters (CAS No. 68334-05-4). Both studies were GLP conform conducted guideline studies (OECD 201 and EU method C.3) over a period of 72 hours. As the test substance has a low water solubility (< 1 mg/L), Swarbrick and Smyth (2005) used water accommodated fractions (WAFs) with loading rates of 100 mg/L. Ipsen (2007) prepared WAFs with a loading rate of 110.1 mg/L test substance.

No effects up to the limit of the water solubility of the test substance were observed in both tests (EL50 and LOELR > 100 mg/L; NOELR ≥ 100 mg/L).
