Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

General information:

In case of accident or if you feel unwell seek medical advice (show label or SDS where

possible).

After inhalation

Provide fresh air.

After contact with the skin

Wash with plenty of water or water and soap. In the event of a visible skin change or other

complaints, seek medical advice (show label or SDS where possible).

After contact with the eyes

Rinse immediately with plenty of water. Seek medical advice in case of continuous irritation.

After swallowing

Give several small portions of water to drink. Do not induce vomiting.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media

water mist , extinguishing powder , alcohol-resistant foam , carbon dioxide , sand .

Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons

water spray , water jet .

Special exposure hazards arising from the substance or preparation itself, combustion products,

resulting gases

Hazardous decomposition products: alcohols . Do not allow extinguishing water to enter

sewerage, the soil or inshore waters.

Special protective equipment for fire fighting

Use respiratory protection independent of recirculated air.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions

Wear personal protection equipment (see section Exposure controls / personal protection ). Keep unprotected persons away. Avoid

contact with eyes and skin. Avoid inhaling mists and vapours. If material is released indicate

risk of slipping.

Environmental precautions

Prevent material from entering surface waters, drains or sewers and soil. Contain any fluid

that runs out using suitable material (e.g. earth). Retain contaminated water/extinguishing

water. Dispose of in prescribed marked containers.

Methods for cleaning up

Do not flush away with water. For small amounts: Absorb with a liquid binding material such as

diatomaceous earth and dispose of according to local/state/federal regulations. Contain larger

amounts and pump up into suitable containers. Clean any slippery coating that remains using a

detergent / soap solution or another biodegradable cleaner. Exhaust vapours.

Further information:

Eliminate all sources of ignition.

Handling and storage

Handling

Precautions for safe handling:

Ensure adequate ventilation. Keep away from incompatible substances in accordance with section stability and reactivity.

Spilled substance increases risk of slipping.

Precautions against fire and explosion:

Flammable vapors may accumulate and form explosive mixtures with air in containers, process

vessels, including partial, empty and uncleaned containers and vessels, or other enclosed

spaces. Keep away from sources of ignition and do not smoke. Take precautionary measures

against electrostatic charging. Cool endangered containers with water.

Storage

Conditions for storage rooms and vessels:

none known

Advice for storage of incompatible materials:

not applicable

Further information for storage:

Protect against moisture. Keep container tightly closed and store in a cool, well ventilated place.

Specific end use(s)

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure limits

-

Exposure limited and controlled

Exposure in the work place limited and controlled

General protection and hygiene measures:

Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Do not inhale gases/vapours/aerosols. Do not eat, drink or

smoke when handling.

Personal protection equipment

Respiratory protection

In case of long or strong exposure: gas mask filter ABEK .

Hand protection

Protective gloves made of butyl rubber . Gloves suitable for up to 60 minutes' use.

Eye protection

tight fitting protective goggles .

Skin protection

protective clothing .

Exposure to the environment limited and controlled

Prevent material from entering surface waters and soil.

Further information for system design and engineering measures

Observe information in section Handling and Storage.

Stability and reactivity

General information:

If stored and handled in accordance with standard industrial practices no hazardous reactions

are known.

Conditions to avoid

moisture

Materials to avoid

Reacts with: water , basic substances and acids . Reaction causes the formation of: ethanol .

Hazardous decomposition products

ethanol . If stored and handled in accordance with standard industrial practices and local

regulations where applicable: none known .

Disposal considerations

Material

Recommendation:

Dispose of according to regulations by incineration in a special waste incinerator. Observe

local/state/federal regulations.

Uncleaned packaging

Recommendation:

Completely discharge containers (no tear drops, no powder rest, scraped carefully). Containers

may be recycled or re-used. Observe local/state/federal regulations.
