Description of key information

The toxicity of acetophenone to Raphidocelis subcapitata was investigated in a study conducted according to OECD guideline 201. The study was conducted under static conditions in stoppered BOD bottles. The acetophenone concentration was monitored analytically. The NOEC, 72 h ECb50, and 72 h-ECr50 were determined to be 24.8 mg/L, 40 mg/L (95% C.I.: 22.9-57.1 mg/L), and 86.4 mg/L (95% C.I.: 74.6-96.2 mg/L; effective), respectively.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
86.4 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
24.8 mg/L

Additional information

Reliable data obtained in a study conducted according to guideline. The 72 h ECr50 was selected as key parameter due to the greater relevance of this endpoint.
