Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Materials and methods

Principles of method if other than guideline:
Ground water samples collected on September 6, 2000 from the Norman Landfill research site in central Oklahoma were analysed via GC/MS. This unlined landfill originally was an open dump established in the 1920s on an alluvial plain adjacent to the Canadian River. Wastes in the landfill consist primarily of residential and commercial solids, although hazardous wastes have been disposed of in this landfill. The landfill was closed in 1985. In 2000, a set of four water samples was collected from a transect of wells. In addition, one sample was collected from a well located upgradient of the landfill.

Study design

Details on sampling:
- Geographic coordinates: samples collected from monitoring wells proximal to the Norman Landfill in central Oklahoma (not further specified)
- Known emission sources near sampling site: landfill in use from 1920s to 1985
- Period of sampling: 06.09.2000
- Sampling: according to Koterba et al. 1995 (not further specified)
- Sample storage before analysis: not reported

Results and discussion

Details on results:
Acetophenone was qualitatively detected in ground water samples. Acetophenone was not detected in the one sample collected upgradient of the landfill. No informations are given, however, whether acetophenone was detected in all four ground water samples collected downgradient of the landfill.

Any other information on results incl. tables

Acetophenone was qualitatively detected in ground water samples. Acetophenone was not detected in the one sample collected upgradient of the landfill. No informations are given, however, whether acetophenone was detected in all four ground water samples collected downgradient of the landfill.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Acetophenone was qualitatively detected in ground water samples. Acetophenone was not detected in the one sample collected upgradient of the landfill. No informations are given, however, whether acetophenone was detected in all four ground water samples collected downgradient of the landfill.
