Description of key information

Two separate TGD-approved handbooks agree that the substance could be sufficiently volatile at 24 to 31°C to create an ignitable mixture in air.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Information regarding flash point of SBA was sourced from two separate handbooks. Merck Index: An Encyclopedia of Chemicals, Drugs, and Biologicals (14th Edition) and CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics (81st Ed), which are known to contain peer-reviewed data of Klimisch-2 reliability state that the substance has a flash point of 31°C (open-cup method), and 24°C (method not specified), respectively. These values are above the melting point of -114.7°C, but below the boiling point of 99.5°C, suggesting that the substance could be sufficiently volatile at 24 to 31°C to create an ignitable mixture in air. No information on atmospheric pressure reported.
