Conclusion on classification

It is proposed that trichloro(methyl)silane should not be classified in the EU for acute or chronic toxicity on the grounds that appropriate read-across indicates that it is not toxic at an initial loading rate of the substance of 100 mg/l.

The rapid hydrolysis of the substance and the low Log Kow of the silanol hydrolysis product indicate that the classification R53 should not apply.
