Description of key information
Additional information
No abiotic degradation studies are available for reaction product of p-nonylphenol, formaldehyde and diethanolamine, propoxylated. However, as the substance is known to be a stable polyether polyol, hydrolysis is not to be expected.
Based on the ready biodegradability screening test the substance is characterised as being not readily biodegradable. The biodegradation of the test item in sureface freshwater was investigated in an OECD TG 309 study at 12˚C (Noack Lab. GmbH, 2021). The DT50 values of the test item at 20 µg/L applied concentration in surface water were in a range of 19.4 to 25.2 days. The DT50 values of the test item at 100 µg/L applied concentration in surface water were in a range of 11.9 to 37.3 days.
No data on the bioaccumulation potential of the substance is available. However, as the substance has a low log octanol-water partition coefficient (1.72 < logKow < 2.2), the substance is assumed to have a low potential for bioaccumulation.
Based on its physical chemical properties (i.e. log Kow of < 3), the substance is assumed to has a low potential of adsorption. For purposes of risk assessment, the organic carbon-water partitioning coefficient (Koc) is calculated from the log Kow using the equation from EUSES (non-hydrophobics QSAR). The calculated Koc value is 146 L/kg.
Data on volatilisation and distribution among compartments is not available.
