Description of key information

Based on the analogue approach justification, the following conclusion on the flammability obtained on Vinasses, residue of fermentation, can be applied to the Vinasses, residue of fermentation, depotassified:
Not flammable upon ignition.
No pyrophoric properties.
Does not liberate flammable gases on contact with water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Based on the analogue approach justification and as Vinasses, residue of fermentation and Vinasses, residue of fermentation, depotassified contain very similar dry matter contents and the same types of components with similar ranges, an analogy can be done on physico-chemical properties between the two substances.

Based on experience in handling and use, Vinasses, residue of fermentation, depotassified, have no pyrophoric properties and do not emit flammable gases in contact with water; therefore, pyrophoricity and flammability are not expected for Vinasses, residue of fermentation, depotassified, in form of suspension/aqueous solution and paste.

Justification for classification or non-classification

No classification for Vinasses, residue of fermentation, depotassified, in form of suspension in water and paste according to the DSD (67/548/EEC) and CLP (1272/2008/EC) criteria.
