Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Move exposed person to fresh air. Symptomatic treatment. In

case of indisposition seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with plenty of water. If irritation occurs, seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Symptomatic treatment. In case of indisposition seek medical

advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, dry powder, foam and carbon dioxide may be used.

Product arising from burning: COx, NOx, SO2 and other toxic gases.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: A self-contained breathing apparatus should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protection clothing (see 2.3.1). Sweep up (wet

powders with water), for liquids absorb using a suitable

absorbent material (eg. kieselguhr, sand, saw dust etc...)

Transfer to labelled containers and dispose of by

incineration in accordance with local regulations. Wash

spill site with water. Prevent release to water courses.

Handling and storage

Handling: Ensure adequate ventilation. Observe the usual precautions

for handling chemicals. If the substance is handled as powder, avoid inhalation and contact with skin and eyes.

Wear suitable protective gloves, safety goggles and a dust mask. Use equipment for handling powders or other appropriate engineering controls.

Storage: The substance should be stored in well sealed and secure containers in adequate rooms at room temperature. Avoid dust residue outside the containers.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Polyethylene-drum in sealed cardboard-package.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Normal application results in the consumption of approx. 82 to 84 % by irreversible binding to the cellulose / cotton fibres. Recovery for recycling of the remaining substance is not reasonably practicable.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No suitable method known.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not suitable for deposit in landfill site.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Code 661: Incinerator with flue gas scrubbing.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Code 641: Removal by controlled discharge to a wastewater treatment plant. It is estimated that approx. 16 to 18% of the total quantity used is discharged into internal industrial effluents a highly diluted solution. A purification of the waste water in a waste water treatment plant is recommended. The dyestuff should be used in a well equipped dye house. If necessary, the waste water can be purified prior to the waste water treatment by membrane filtration or by flocculation with cationic agents or by treatment with ozone. The most effective method is the membrane filtration: more than 99 %  of the remaining dyestuff can be removed from the wastewater.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: Not applicable.
