M3T is a liquid at ambient temperature and pressure, with a measured melting point of -78.7 to -76.3°C and a predicted boiling point of 180°C. It has a predicted density of 0.91 g/cm3at 20°C, a kinematic viscosity of 1.3 mm2/s at 20°C (predicted); and a measured vapour pressure of 210 Pa at 25°C.

The substance has a measured flash point of 59.5°C from study conducted according to test method ISO 3679 and in compliance with a known quality system (ISO9001), indicating that it should be classified as Flammable Liquid Category 3 (H226) according to the criteria of Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.

The substance has a predicted boiling point of 180°C. It has a measured self-ignition temperature of 335°C, and is not explosive and not oxidising on the basis of structural examination.

In contact with water, the substance reacts slowly (half-life of approximately 630 hat pH 7 and 25°C). The hydrolysis products are trimethylsilanol and methylsilanetriol.

The properties of the parent substance are assessed as hydrolysis in water is slow. The substance has a predicted log Kowof 8.2 at 20°C and a measured water solubility of 0.00189 mg/l at 23°C.
