Description of key information

Experimental value for test item surface tension: 55.1 to 55.2 mN/m at 22.8 ± 0.5°C (solution of test item at 1.03g/l). The test item is a surfactant according to the guidelines

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
55.1
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:

Additional information

The determination was carried out using a White electrical institute Co.Ltd. torsion balance for surface and interfacial tension measurements and a procedure designed according to Method A5 Surface Tension of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008, Method 115 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995 and GLP. The surface tension result was not corrected using the Harkins-Jordan correction table. This deviation has been considered not to have affected the integrity of the study.

All measured values lay clearly below the threshold for surface tension which is stated in the guidelines (60mN/m).

The test item was considered to be surface active.
