Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Data available show that the physicochemical profiles of the PWH/ammonium and PWH/sodium salts are similar. The two substances are different only in the salification, in fact the paraffinic chain with one sulphonic group, three Cl atoms is always in common.

Some of the physicochemical properties are mainly affected by the organic portion of the substance that is the main moiety, therefore the similarity between the sodium and the ammonium salt could be considered valid.

Experimental data are available and EPI SUITE estimations on the two salts have been compared.

The read across justification is attached on section 13 of the dossier.

The appearance of Paraffin waxes and Hydrocarbon waxes, chloro, sulfochlorinated, saponified, ammonium salt at 20 °C was defined according to an internal method.

The substance is a white to yellow wax in the commercial form, with 40-50% of water.

It has a freezing point less than -50 °C, melting point around 32 °C and a boiling point between 103 -152 °C.

The substance is a surface active, moderately soluble in water and shows a Log Kow estimated as 3.42, bases on sample solubility in pure water and n-octanol.

It is not flammable and doesn't show any oxidizing and explosive properties.
