Description of key information

The half-lives of 3-(3-isopropenylphenyl)butanal were determined to be 536 hours (pH 4), 405 hours (pH 7) and 392 hours (pH 9) according to a study performed in line with OECD Guideline 111.

Additional information

Hydrolysis rates at different pH values have been determined by the method described in the OECD Guideline No. 111. Results fit in with a pseudo-first order reaction. The half-times are 400-600 hours at 20ºC. Results may be disturbed by the easy oxidizability of the test substance.

The read-across is considered to be suitable based on the structural and 'mechanistic action' similarities between the target substance (3-(3-isopropenylphenyl)butanal) and source substance (3-(3-isopropylphenyl)butanal) and their similar physico-chemical and environmental fate properties.
