Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The 72-hour EL50 (Scenedesmus subspicatus) of reaction mass of cerium dioxide and lanthanum oxide and lanthanum fluoride is > 100 mg/L based on the growth rate; revealing it is not harmful for the algae.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A GLP-compliant study, scored as Klimisch 1 and flagged as a key study, is available on the reaction mass; giving a 72h-EL50 > 100 mg/L and revealing that the reaction mass is not harmful to algae (Peither, 2009).

Two experimental studies, of reliability 2 (Bätscher, 2007) and 4 (Van Hoecke et al., 2009a) according to Klimisch, are also available on cerium dioxide and give consistent results with those obtained on the reaction mass. Data on this constituent were thus selected as supporting studies.
