Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Due to the very low water solubility of the reaction mass of cerium dioxide and lanthanum oxide and lanthanum fluoride (2.23 µg/L), the study is waived as an analytical method sufficiently precise is not available.
Data on constituents:
CeO2: Not technically feasible for the same reasons as above,
La2O3: Due to the slightly higher solubility, the test could be performed giving a Koc = 5480283 and a Koc,des = 358213,
LaF3: No data.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Due to the very low water solubility of the reaction mass of cerium dioxide and lanthanum oxide and lanthanum fluoride (2.23 µg/L), the study is waived as an analytical method sufficiently precise is not available. The same reasoning is applied to cerium dioxide which presents an even lower solubility (< 0.123 µg/L). By contrast, due to the slightly higher solubility of lanthanum oxide, it was possible to perform the test. This ones, scored as Klimisch 2 (Völkel, 2008), was flagged as a supporting study and revealed a strong potential for adsorption to soil with Koc and Koc,des values of 5480283 and 358213, respectively. No data is available on lanthanum fluoride.
