Description of key information

The 96-hour LL50 (Oncorhynchus mykiss) of reaction mass of cerium dioxide and lanthanum oxide and lanthanum fluoride is > 100 mg/L; revealing it is not harmful for the fish species tested.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A GLP-compliant study, scored as Klimisch 1 and flagged as a key study, is available on the reaction mass; giving a 96h-LL50 > 100 mg/L and revealing that the reaction mass is not harmful to Oncorhynchus mykiss (Bätscher, 2008).

One experimental study, scored as Klimisch 2 (Bazzon, 2000), is also available on cerium dioxide and lanthanum oxide and gives consistent results on Brachydanio rerio. The data on these constituents were thus selecting as supporting studies.
