Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

There no data available on phosphonic ester residue with respect to toxicity to reproduction.

Phosphonic ester residue contains monomethyl phosphonate, phosphonic acid, and Dimethylphosphonate, and salt of pyrophosphoric acid. and phosphate which were not further specified

Phosphonic acid; Monomethylphosphonic acid; Pyrophosphoric acid:

There are no data availble with respect to toxicity to reproduction

Dimethylphosphonate

In a screening study on rats according to OECD TG 421 (gavage study, 30, 90, 270 mg/kg bw), effects on fertility were seen in females at 270 mg/kg bw/day in the presence of severe general toxicity (decrease in number of females with corpora lutea and implantation sites) (NOAEL reproduction toxicity: 90 mg/kg bw/day; NOAEL general toxicity: 90 mg/kg bw/day). No developmental toxicity was found in rats at doses of 30 and 90 mg/kg bw (NOAEL developmentaltoxicity: 90 mg/kg bw/d).

Based on the study results and according to DSD-DPD and CLP classification criteria, the test substance is not to be classified.

Short description of key information:

Dimethylphosphit

In a screening study according to OECD TG 421 (Eiben R and Hartmann E, 2002) with male and female rats dosed up to 270 mg/kg bw, the sex ratio, mortality and weights of F1 pups were not affected by treatment up to and including 90 mg/kg bw/day, while evaluation was not possible at higher doses as there were no surviving pups. No externally malformed pups were observed.

Justification for classification or non-classification

based on the available data no classification/labelling is required.
