First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

General advice

Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location.

Inhalation

Move to fresh air. Oxygen or artificial respiration if needed. Obtain medical attention.

Skin contact

Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash off with soap and water. Obtain medical

attention.

Eye contact

Rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

Ingestion

Do NOT induce vomiting. Rinse mouth with water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious

person. Obtain medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Extinguishing media : Carbon dioxide (CO2);  Water mist;  Dry chemical;  Foam

Unsuitable extinguishing media : Water spray jet

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Cool closed containers exposed to fire with water spray.

Hazardous combustion products, Carbon oxides, nitrogen oxides (NOx), Fumes

Special protective actions for fire-fighters

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.

Specific matters: Toxic fumes may be released. Do not breathe vapour.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Use personal protective equipment.

Environmental precautions:

Try to prevent the material from entering drains or water courses. Ventilate the area.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up:

Sweep up or vacuum up spillage and collect in suitable container for disposal. Soak up with inert absorbent material.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Use only in well-ventilated areas. Use exhaust ventilation if there are vapours in the air.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities :  Keep containers tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Keep away from sources of ignition. Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at machinery.

Incompatible products:

Materials to avoid:  Oxidizing agents

Storage stability: Storage period 24 Months; Storage temperature > 15 °C

Other data: Avoid freezing.

Specific end uses

Stable under normal conditions in drilling applications (Drilling Mud Additive)

Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment

Hand protection:

Glove material: Protective gloves complying with EN 374.

Glove material: PVC disposable gloves

Glove material: Neoprene gloves

Eye protection

Safety glasses with side-shields conforming to EN166

Skin and body protection

Long sleeved clothing Wear suitable protective clothing.

Respiratory protection

In the case of vapour formation use a respirator with an approved filter. Respirator with filter for organic vapour

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

Stable at normal ambient temperature and pressure.

Chemical stability

Stable under normal conditions.

Conditions to avoid

Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking.

Incompatible materials

Materials to avoid : Oxidizing agents

Hazardous decomposition products

Thermal decomposition : Note: Thermal decomposition can lead to release of irritating gases and vapours., nitrogen oxides (NOx), Carbon oxides

(COx)

Disposal considerations

Dispose of in accordance with local regulations.Dispose of contents/ container to an approved waste disposal plant.
