Description of key information

The hydrolysis behaviour of the test substance as water solution was investigated at pH = 4, 7 and 9 using a HPLC/UV method for analysis and  the following hydrolyis rates were measured (pH=4, 25°C: T1/2=276days; pH=7, 25°C: T1/2=3.5hrs, pH=9, 25°C: T1/2=10mins).
In a second study the main hydrolysis products of X-Tan were determined. The main soluble product of the hydrolysis is a diamine.

Additional information

The stability of the test item is found to decrease with increasing pH-value.

As the substance was analytically analyzed and the degradation is a pseudo-first order reaction the study with the water solution as test substance can also be used for the investigation of the hydrolysis behavior of the pure, solid substance as the degradation is independent of the concentration if the reaction is of first order.
