Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

A study on the adsorption potential of iron potassium oxide cannot be performed as the nature of the material, particularly its low solubility in water and in organic solvents, together with other experimental limitations makes it very difficult or impossible to determine logKoc directly. It is also not possible to estimate this parameter from other properties such as logPow.

In order to assess the adsorption potential of the test substance anyways, the possible hydrolysis products have been consulted alternatively. In spite of the fact that hydrolysis is unlikely to be a significant pathway for the breakdown of potassium ferrite, the adsorption potential of iron and potassium ions has been further examined.

The following partitioning coefficients have been reported from a literature search (Harvey et al, Environ. Toxicol. Chem., 26, 2007):

LogKwater/sediment:          4.90 (Iron)     2.87 (Potassium)

LogKwater/suspended:        6.63 (Iron)

LogKsoil/water:                2.74 (Iron)    1.95 (Potassium)
