EC number: 284-895-5
CAS number: 84989-06-0
The fraction of tar acids, rich in 2,4- and 2,5-dimethylphenol, recovered by distillation of low-temperature coal tar crude tar acids.
not flammable on ignition
not flammable in contact with water
Not flammable based on the flash point. For solid material the
flammability is also assessed based on the flash point because the
substance melts at relative low temperatures. Based on experience in
handling and use and the chemical structure pyrophoricity and
flammability on contact with water are not to be expected. The substance
is completely molten at 160 °C and therefore does not need to be
considered for classification as self-heating.
The available data on flammability of the test substance do not
meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC)
1272/2008, and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for
classification: Based on the flash point
the substance is not flammable on ignition. Based
on chemical structure and experience in handling and use, pyrophoricity
and flammability on contact with water are not expected. The substance
is completely molten at 160 °C, therefore the substance does not need to
be considered for classification as self-heating substance.
