Key value for chemical safety assessment

Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
333 °C

Additional information

The auto ignition temperature of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guideline EU Method A.16 under GLP conditions. The study was awarded a reliability score of 1 in accordance with the criteria for assessing data quality set forth by Klimisch et al. (1997).

An aliquot of the test material was suspended in a stainless steel mesh cube in an oven. A thermocouple was placed in the sample and another in the oven. The oven temperature was programmed to increase from ambient to 400 °C at a rate of 0.5 °C/min. The temperature/time curves relating to the condition in the centre of the sample and the oven were recorded. The cube was observed to contain grey/white charred remains after the test.

The test material has been determined to have a relative self-ignition temperature of 333 °C.
