Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
49.81
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
2.07

Additional information

In the non-GLP study from Redlich (2012), the surface tension of Depanol I was determined according to EU method A.5 and ISO 14370. The surface tension was determined at 90% of the saturation concentration (calculated as 2.07 mg/L) at 20°C. Five determinations were made and resulted in 49.92, 49.29, 50.43, 49.19, and 50.24 mN/m with a mean value of 49.81 mN/m (standard deviation 0.56 mN/m).

This information is considered to be Klimisch 2 information since this study was performed according to international guidelines and under GLP but the experimental details were reported only in short.

The obtained results are considered as relevant for the further assessment.

In the non-GLP study from Bernath (2000), the surface tension of Depanol I was determined according to the method from de Noüy at 25°C. Further results, e.g., on the tested concentration, were not provided. The surface tension was determined to be 29.35 mN/m. This information is considered to be Klimisch 4 information since important details from the study design are lacking.
