Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The 48h acute toxicity of Vanadium concentrate to Daphnia magna Strauss was studied under static conditions in OECD 202. Daphnids were exposed to the test chemical at nominal concentration of 180 mg/l, 120 mg/l, 100 mg/l, 80 mg/l, and 40 mg/l for a total test duration of 48 h with potassium dichromate as control. Preparation and treatment of the test substance was carried out accordingo to OECD Environmental Health and Safety Publications, Series on Testing and Assessment, No. 23, GUIDANCE DOCUMENT ON AQUATIC TOXICITY TESTING OF DIFFICULT SUBSTANCES AND MIXTURES.
Immobilization was observed at test termination. The EC50 (48h) was 93.628 mg/l.

This study is classified as acceptable and satisfies the guideline requirements for an acute toxicity study with freshwater invertebrates (OECD 202).

Results Synopsis:
- Test Organism Age (e.g. 1stinstar): less than 24 h
- Test Type (Flowthrough, Static, Static Renewal): static
- EC50 (48h) = 93.628 mg/l; 95% confidence limits: 82.717 to 106.989 mg/l
