Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

No studies on physical and chemical properties of substance are available. Some physical and chemical properties were determined from internal Huntsman data. Data from analogue substance; LABS (CAS No: 85536-14-7) was also used to support of substance. The other physical and chemical properties of H250 sulphonic acid were estimated by using EPISUITE quantitative structure activity relationship (QSAR) method. The substance is a UVCB, therefore C11 and C16 were used as alkyl chain for QSAR calculation to cover whole constituents the substance.

The melting point of H250 sulphonic acid was determined to be < 10°C, while the boiling point was determined to be > 100°C from internal Huntsman data. Vapour pressure of 0.061 Pa at 40 °C was determined from internal Huntsman data.

The water solubility of H250 sulphonic acid (C11 -C16) was estimated as 5.27 E-04- 0.177 mg/L. Data from analogue substance LABS was also used to support the water solubility of substance. The analogue substance is a UVCB also, therefore the longer carbon chain lenght, the less water soluble. The water solubility profile of substance considered to be miscible.

The octanol-water coefficient of the substance (log Kow) was calculated to be 5.39 - 7.84. EPISuite estimated the vapor pressure as 2.14 -337 E-11 Pa at 25°C.

The data of LABS was used as structural analogue substance to assess the surface tension of the substance. The surface tension of H250 sulphonic acid was considered to be 35.4 mN/m.

Some physical and chemical properties were determined from internal Huntsman data. The kinematic viscosity of the test substance at 40°C was determined to be 665.2 cSt. The dynamic viscosity is < 500 cP at 60 °C. The flash point was determined as > 149.5 °C.
