For the analysis of the test item concentration, samples from the Algal Mineral Salts Test Medium solutions of the test concentration and the controls were taken at the start and at the end of the test. All test medium samples were taken from the approximate centre of the test vessels with mixing of the test media.

Executive summary:

LTA had a statistically significant inhibitory effect on the growth based on areas under the growth curves, average specific growth rate and on the yield of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata after the exposure period of 72 hours in the concentration range of 10.0 – 100.0 mg test item/L (Bonferroni t-Test, a=0.05). The 72-hour IC50 for growth rate was determined at the concentration of 36.51 mg test item/L.
