Details on test material:
Based on the immediate hydrolysis of the test substance Lithium-tert-amoxide (LTA) in aqueous media only the corresponding hydroxide, LiOH and tert-amyl alcohol are present. The vapour pressure of tert-amyl alcohol was determined.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Due to immediate hydrolysis of the test substance lithium-tert-amoxide (LTA) forming lithium hydroxide (LiOH) and tert-amyl alcohol when coming in contact with water, furthermore, as the available experimental methods allow a determination of vapour pressures down to 10–5 Pa only, an experimental determination of the vapour pressure is not meaningful.
Executive summary:

Lithium-tert-amoxide (LTA) is sensitive to moisture and hydrolyses spontaneously upon contact with water forming LiOH and tert-amyl alcohol. By means of the program EPIWIN, the vapour pressure of LTA was estimated to be 4.17 x 10-7 mm Hg corresponding to 5.56 x 10-5 Pa at 25°C (using the Modified Grain method).

In addition, reference is also made to literature data available for one of the resulting hydrolysis products tertamyl alcohol. At 25°C the vapour pressure of tert-amyl alcohol is stated to be 16.8 mm Hg, corresponding to 2.24 x 10+3 Pa (Daubert, T.E. and Danner,R.P.; Data compilation Tables of Properties of Pure Compounds, NY; Amer Inst for Phys Prop Data (1989)).
