Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Due to the immediate hydrolysis of Lithium-tert-amoxide (LTA) to Lithium hydroxide (LiOH) and tert-amyl alcohol when coming in contact with water, an experimental determination of the water solubility of Lithium-tert-amoxide (LTA) is not required. The pattion coeffizient for hydrolysis product tert-amyl alcohol is 0.89 at 25°C (as reported for ELINCS registration).
Executive summary:

When coming in contact with water LTA spontaneously decomposes hydrolysing into LiOH and tert-amyl alcohol. Therefore, the experimental determination of the partition coefficient was waived, instead reference is made to the hydrolysis products.

Value for hydrolysis products:

tert-amyl alcohol (2-methyl-2-butanol):

log Kow = 0.89 at 25°C (US National Library of Medicine SCR

Database for the Hazardous Substances Data Bank)

Lithium hydroxide (LiOH):

not applicable.
