Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, di-Me esters, hydrogenated (CAS 147853-32-5) is poorly soluble in water, has a high adsorption potential and a low vapour pressure. Its main environmental target compartments are therefore expected to be soil and sediment. However, due to its low water solubility, the substance is expected to be removed in the primary settling tank or fat trap of sewage treatment plants. Significant release into surface waters is thus not expected, and exposure of sediment is thereby unlikely. Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, di-Me esters, hydrogenated (CAS 147853-32-5) is expected to be hydrolytically stable under environmental conditions, and significant biodegradation of the substance is not expected.

Despite of its high log Kow value, bioaccumulation of Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, di-Me esters, hydrogenated (CAS 147853-32-5) is considered unlikely for several reasons. First, uptake is expected to be low due to the molecular size. Second, if taken up, rapid metabolism is expected (see also Toxicokinetic statement). Third, exposure of aquatic organisms will be extremely low due to the low water solubility of the substance.
