- PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION:
Appropriate amounts of the test item were weighed in glass beakers, the content of each beaker was transferred into glass flask by multiple
washing with Elendt M7 medium. Each flask was filled up into total volume with Elendt M7 medium, and was sonicated for 30 minutes. All test item mixtures were nontransparent with particles on the surface. The content of flasks was left for 30 minutes in order to obtain the visually homogeneous fraction. This fraction was then collected using a glass tube from the middle part of each flask and split up into test vessels and for chemical analyses. The collected fractions were the Water Accommodated Fraction (WAF) and were used for exposure. After 24 h of exposure the test item concentrations were renewed to freshly prepared. - Test organisms (species):

One short-term toxicity study with aquatic invertebrates is available for C16-20AS Na (CAS 91648-55-4). The semi-static test was performed with Daphnia magna according to OECD 202 (BASF, 2015). Daphnids were exposed to six test concentrations and control treatment prepared as WAF (nominal concentrations). Total organic carbon content was measured.
The number of immobile organisms was evaluated after 24 and 48 hours. The 48-hour EC50 value was 37.91 mg/L (nominal concentration, WAF).
