First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures
General information
First aider: Pay attention to self-protection! Avoid contact with the product. When in doubt or if symptoms are observed, get medical advice.

After inhalation
Remove casualty to fresh air and keep warm and at rest.
In case of respiratory tract irritation, consult a physician.

After contact with skin
After contact with skin, wash immediately with polyethylene glycol, followed by plenty of water. Take off immediately all contaminated clothing and wash it before reuse. Call a physician immediately.

After contact with eyes
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids.
Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Consult an ophthalmologist.

After ingestion
If accidentally swallowed rinse the mouth with plenty of water (only if the person is conscious) and obtain immediate medical attention. Observe risk of aspiration if vomiting occurs.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed
The substance is corrosive.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media
Water spray, alcohol resistant foam, carbon dioxide (CO2), Dry extinguishing powder

Unsuitable extinguishing media
Full water jet

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
flammable, On intense heating explosible mixture with air possible.
Emission of irritating and toxic fumes and gases.
In case of fire may be liberated: Carbon oxides
In general: For flammable organic substances dust explosion potential is assumed when finely dispersed in air.

Advice for firefighters
Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical protective clothing.

Additional information
Use water spray jet to protect personnel and to cool endangered containers. Suppress gases/vapours/mists with
water spray jet. Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. Do not allow entering drains or surface
water.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Provide adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes. Use personal protection equipment.
Remove all sources of ignition. Avoid dust formation.
Assure emergency shower, eye shower near the workplace

Environmental precautions
Do not allow to enter into soil/subsoil. Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
Take up carefully when dry. For larger quantities: Use suitable dust binding material.
Collect in closed and suitable containers for disposal. Clean up affected area.

Handling and storage

Advice on safe handling
Provide adequate ventilation. Working places should be designed to allow cleaning at any time. Avoid dust formation. Do not breathe dust. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes. Use personal protection equipment.
Remove all sources of ignition.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion
Usual measures for fire prevention.

Further information on handling
Keep container tightly closed.
Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice: Do not eat, drink, and smoke. Wash hands before break and after work.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Requirements for storage rooms and vessels:
Keep away from heat. Protect from sunlight. Keep in a cool, well-ventilated place.

Advice on storage compatibility
For storage in a common place refer to the respective regulations.

Specific end use(s)

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters
Additional advice on limit values
Dust limits (inhalable and alveolar fraction) must be respected under consideration of national provisions.

Exposure controls
Appropriate engineering controls. Provide sufficient ventilation.

Protective and hygiene measures
When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Wash hands before breaks and after work. Remove contaminated, saturated clothing immediately.

Eye/face protection
Wear tightly fitting safety goggles. (DIN EN 166)

Hand protection
Tested protective gloves must be worn (DIN EN 374)
The quality of the protective gloves resistant to chemicals must be chosen as a function of the specific working place
concentration and quantity of hazardous substances. Due to missing tests no material recommendation can be given.

Skin protection
Wear suitable chemical resistant protective clothing. Choose suitable personal protection equipment dependent on substance concentration and amount specific for workplace. Chemical resistance should be clarified with the supplier.

Respiratory protection
The selection of appropriate respiratory protection systems should be determined on a case by case base
depending on the exposure conditions. At exposure to dust or mist respiratory equipment with particle filter P3 (EN 143) recommended.
Maintenance, testing and change of the filter cartridges must be performed following the recommendations of the supplier.

Environmental exposure controls
Do not allow to enter into soil/subsoil.
Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity
In general: For flammable organic substances dust explosion potential is assumed when finely dispersed in air.

Chemical stability
The product is stable under storage at normal ambient temperatures.

Possibility of hazardous reactions
dust explosive

Conditions to avoid
heat
UV-radiation/sunlight
sources of ignition

Incompatible materials
strong acids
strong bases
strong oxidising agents

Hazardous decomposition products
No known hazardous decomposition products.

Disposal considerations

Advice on disposal
Chemicals and packages as waste must be disposed of in accordance with Directive 2008/98/EC and the respective national and local regulations. Consult your local or regional authorities.
Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains. Dispose of waste according to applicable legislation.

Contaminated packaging
Do not contaminate ground- or surface waters via drainage, by cleaning of equipment or disposal of wastes. Non-contaminated packages may be recycled. Handle contaminated packages in the same way as the substance itself.
