Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing (see 2.3.1). Dry spills

should be collected for disposal either at an authorised

landfill or incinerator.

Liquid spills should be absorbed onto a suitable material

prior to disposal.

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid the formation of dust clouds by the use of a

dust-proof filling apparatus and an appropriate exhaust

system. Avoid contact with skin and the inhalation of dust,

wear suitable gloves (impermeable latex), goggles and a dust


Storage: Store in unbreakable containers in a designated area. Avoid

substance residues from collecting on containers.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: After dyeing, approximately 98% of the substance is bound to

paper. Recovery of the substance from paper or the dye

solution is not possible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No method of chemical treatment to neutralise the hazardous

properties is known.

Disposal at an authorised facility equipped with flue-gas

treatment to remove nitrogen and sulfur oxides is

recommended (A661).

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Recommended method, use a controlled landfill site capable

of dealing with hazardous waste (A650).

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Disposal at an authorised facility equipped with flue-gas

treatment to remove nitrogen and sulfur oxides is

recommended (A661).

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Disposal of the dyebath effluent following dilution in

internal effluent and pre-treatment is possible by this

route (A641).

The substance should not be released to surface waters

without treatment using the best available techniques to

reduce the concentration below its environmental no-effect
