Description of key information

A 48h- EL50 value higher than 100 mg/L loading rate (WAF) was appraised for the test item Ethoxylated bisphenol dimethacrylate according to OECD testing guideline 202.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

To validate the use of the data generated for the Ethoxylated bisphenol A diacrylate (EC 701-362-9) to fill by read-across the other ecotoxicological endpoints, the toxicity of the test item Ethoxylated bisphenol A dimethacrylate (EC 935-411-2) was assessed on the most sensitive organism to ethoxylated bisphenol A diacrylate: aquatic invertebrate (Daphnia magna; 48h-EL50 = 6 mg/L).

The inhibition of mobility of the test item for a duration of 48 hours was measured according to the OECD testing guideline 202. Daphnia magna were exposed under semi-static conditions to a single nominal loading rate (WAF) of 100 mg/L. As no effects were observed, the loading rate causing 50% effect (EL50) was higher than the highest loading rate tested (100 mg/L WAF solution). This result was supported by another analogue (2 moles Ethoxylated bisphenol A dimethacrylate, EC 939-702-5) for which no effects were also observed at the highest loading rate tested (48h-EL50 > 100 mg/L).
