Acute toxicity to plants - LC50: > 100 mg/kg dry soil
Studies of the effects on terrestrial organisms need not be conducted if
direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment is unlikely. It is
proposed that testing is waived as, although the substance has a high
Kow of 8.30 and a high potential to adsorb to soil, it is readily
biodegradable indicating that it will not remain in the environment.
Data are available on two structural analogues, phthalate esters with
linear alcohol chain lengths of C6 -8 and C6 -10. These have been tested
for their effects of seedling emergence and seedling growth on three
non-target plant species representing three plant families according to
OECD test guidelines. All tested species showed no phytotoxic effects at
the tested concentration compared to the control. The LC50 for seedling
emergence and the EC50 for growth of Triticum aestivum, Lepidium sativum
and Brassica alba were therefore observed to be greater than 100 mg/kg
