First-aid measures

Skin contact:  Remove all contaminated clothes and footwear immediately unless stuck to skin. Wash immediately with plenty of soap and water. If skin irritation or rash occurs: Get medical attention.

Eye contact:   Bathe the eye with running water for 15 minutes. Consult a doctor.

Ingestion:   Wash out mouth with water. Transfer to hospital as soon as possible.

Inhalation:  Remove casualty from exposure ensuring one's own safety whilst doing so. If symptoms develop, seek medical attention.

Immediate / special treatment: Treat effects symptomatically. Show the safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance. Eye bathing equipment should be available on the premises. A decontamination shower should be available on the premises.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media: Alcohol resistant foam. Water spray. Carbon dioxide. Use water spray to cool containers.

Exposure hazards:   In combustion emits toxic fumes.

Advice for fire-fighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: Do not attempt to take action without suitable protective clothing - see section 8 of SDS. Mark out the contaminated area with signs and prevent access to unauthorised personnel. If outside keep bystanders upwind and away from danger point. Remove all incompatible materials as outlined in section 10 of SDS.

Environmental precautions:   Do not discharge into drains or rivers. Contain the spillage using bunding.

Clean-up procedures: Absorb into dry earth or sand. Transfer to a closable, labelled salvage container for disposal by an appropriate method. Refer to section 13 of SDS for suitable method of disposal.

Handling and storage

Handling requirements: Avoid direct contact with the substance. Ensure there is sufficient ventilation of the area.

Storage conditions: Store in a cool, well ventilated area. Keep container tightly closed. Avoid contact with water or humidity.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Workplace exposure limits:   No data available.

Engineering measures: Ensure there is sufficient ventilation of the area. If the product is to be handled molten, consider any additional engineering requirements.

Respiratory protection: For operations where inhalation exposure may occur, use an approved respirator recommended by an industrial hygienist after an evaluation of the operation. Self- contained breathing apparatus must be available in case of emergency.

Hand protection: PVC gloves. Nitrile gloves. Glove break-through times can vary depending on the characteristic of the type of glove used, the exposure time and type of use. Gloves should be replaced immediately if signs of degradation are observed. Consult your supplier for advice. The applicable European Standard is EN 374.

Eye protection: Safety glasses with side-shields. Ensure eye bath is to hand. The applicable European Standard is EN 166.

Skin protection: Protective clothing. Rubber boots. The applicable European Standard for safety footwear is EN ISO 20345. Ensure safety shower is to hand. Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace.

Environmental: The floor of the storage room must be impermeable to prevent the escape of liquids. Storage should be placed inside a fully bunded area of sufficient size to contain the volume plus 10%. Prevent from entering in public sewers or the immediate environment.

Reactivity:   Stable under recommended transport or storage conditions.

Chemical stability:   Stable under normal conditions.

Hazardous reactions:   Hazardous reactions will not occur under normal transport or storage conditions.

Decomposition may occur on exposure to conditions or materials listed below.

Conditions to avoid:   Moist air. Humidity.

Materials to avoid:   Strong oxidising agents.

Haz. decomp. products:   In combustion emits toxic fumes.
