Biodegradation in water: screening tests:

The test substance is readily biodegradable.

Biodegradation in water and sediment: simulation tests:

According to Regulation (EC) 1907/2006, Annex IX, Section 9.2.1.2, column 2, a simulation study on ultimate degradation in surface water does not need to be conducted as the substance is readily biodegradable.

According to Regulation (EC) 1907/2006, Annex IX, Section 9.2.1.4, Column 2, sediment simulation testing does not need to be conducted as the substance is readily biodegradable.

However a study on the biodegradability in river water is available. The study "14CO2 Production Test in River Water" (Procter and Gamble, 1993, WESTON study no. 92 -043) is supporting the results. The study was conducted with 14C-labelled substance similar to OECD309 but with restrictions. The ready degradation is confirmed by the results after 28 days with 80 +/- 1% and after 50 days with 86.9 +/- 8.3%.

Biodegradation in soil:

No relevant data on the biodegradation in soil are available. However, since the test substance is readily biodegradable no further data are deemed necessary.

In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex IX, Section 9.2.1.3, Column 2, soil simulation testing does not need to be conducted if the substance is readily biodegradable. The substance is readily biodegradable (see IUCLID Ch. 5.2.1). Therefore, no further soil simulation study will be provided.
