Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

If inhaled:

Fresh air. Assist breathing with a ventilator bag or ventilator.

On skin contact:

Wash off thoroughly with ample water. Remove contaminated clothing.

On contact with eyes:

Immediately wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open,

consult an eye specialist.

On ingestion:

Rinse mouth immediately and then drink plenty of water, seek medical attention. Do not induce

vomiting due to aspiration hazard.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treatment: Stomach wash.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media:

water spray, dry powder, foam

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Vapours may form explosive mixture with air.

Advice for fire-fighters

Special protective equipment:

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical-protective clothing.

Further information:

Accidental release measures

May form explosive peroxides.

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Do not breathe vapour/spray. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Ensure adequate

ventilation.

Environmental precautions

Do not empty into drains.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

For small amounts: Pick up with suitable absorbent material. Dispose of absorbed material in

accordance with regulations.

Reference to other sections

Information regarding exposure controls/personal protection and disposal considerations can be found

in section 8 and 13.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Work only in fume cupboards. Avoid aerosol formation.

Protection against fire and explosion:

Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Take precautionary measures against static

discharges. The product is combustible. Vapours are heavier than air.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Suitable materials for containers: glass, steel

Further information on storage conditions: Keep container tightly closed and in a well-ventilated place.

Avoid all sources of ignition: heat, sparks, open flame.

Protect from temperatures below: 5 °C

Protect from temperatures above: 30 °C

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters

Components with workplace control parameters

Observe the appropriate BAT value (Germany). The values and other data of TRGS 900 (Germany)

must be observed.

78-93-3: Methylethylketone

Exposure controls

Personal protective equipment

Respiratory protection:

Respiratory protection in case of vapour/aerosol release. Gas filter for gases/vapours of organic

compounds (boiling point >65 °C, e. g. EN 14387 Type A)

Hand protection:

Suitable materials short-term contact and/or splashes (recommended: At least protective index 2,

corresponding > 30 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374)

butyl rubber (butyl) - 0.7 mm coating thickness

Manufacturer's directions for use should be observed because of great diversity of types.

Supplementary note: The specifications are based on tests, literature data and information of glove

manufacturers or are derived from similar substances by analogy. Due to many conditions (e.g.

temperature) it must be considered, that the practical usage of a chemical-protective glove in practice

may be much shorter than the permeation time determined through testing.Eye protection:

Tightly fitting safety goggles (splash goggles) (e.g. EN 166)

Body protection:

Body protection must be chosen based on level of activity and exposure.

General safety and hygiene measures

Do not inhale gases/vapours/aerosols. Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Hands and/or

face should be washed before breaks and at the end of the shift. Preventive skin protection necessary

Stability and reactivity

Vapours may form explosive mixture with air.

Chemical stability

Possibility of hazardous reactions

Possibility of peroxide formation.

Conditions to avoid

Avoid extreme heat.

Incompatible materials

Substances to avoid:

chromium trioxide, oxidizing agents

Hazardous decomposition products

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Dispose of in accordance with local authority regulations.

Contaminated packaging:

Uncleaned empties should be disposed of in the same manner as the contents.
