PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Based on the screening criteria given in the Guidance document R11, table R.11 -2, Carboxylic acids, C5 -9 is not PBT or vPvB.

Carboxylic acids, C5 -9 is not considered to be persistent in the environment because it was readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria in the modified Sturm test (OECD 301 B: . Bioconcentration is not considered because Carboxylic acids C5 -9 is rapidly metabolised. In addition, the estimated log Kow was 2.6, i.e. well below the screening criterion of 4.5. Regarding aquatic toxicity, the short-term effect concentrations (EC50 or LC50) were orders of magnitude above the screening criterion of 0.1 mg/L for fish, daphnia, and algae.
