Discussion for CAS# 756-13-8:

CAS# 756-13-8 has a hydrolytic half-life of less than 2.5 minutes at pH values 1.2, 5, 7, and 9. The water solubility of this substance cannot be meaningfully quantified. As such, experimental measurement of water solubility under section 7.7 is not scientifically justified as per adaptations of data requirements listed in column two of Annex VII. For use in subsequent distribution modeling, two QSAR models were used to assess the water solubility of CAS# 756-13-8. ACD/Labs v12.00 provided an estimate of 24 mg/L. ACD/Labs v.12.00 is a proprietary model which is generally valid model. CAS# 756-13-8 is within the model applicability domain as defined by the fluorochemicals within its training set. However, the software cannot take hydrolysis of the substance into account, and the results of the QSAR simulations are not reported. An estimated water solubility of 40.95 mg/L using EpiSuite v.3.12 was reported in a previous chemical registration submission. This software version is obsolescent, and CAS# 756-13-8 is not contained within the model’s applicability domain. The value is classified as not reliable and is reported solely to acknowledge the prior submission.

The solubility of PFPA was examined in a shaking method based on OPPTS 830.7840 and OECD TG105. Test substance was mixed with purified water, mixed and sonicated. The test substance was miscible with water at the highest concentration tested. This study was based on an internationally accepted guideline and conducted in compliance with Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) Standards, 40 CFR 792. Therefore, it is classified as reliable without restrictions
