No studies are available on hydrolysis, photolysis in water or atmospheric degradation. Hydrolysis however is not expected based on the molecular structure of the test substance.
In a GLP-compliant, OECD 301C Modified MITI test biodegradation of AC-6000 was tested using activated sludge prepared from several sampling sites (return sludges from both city and industrial sewage treatment plants and surface water and surface soil). The test item was found to be not readily biodegradable after 28 days (Kurume Laboratory, 2006a).
Simulation studies were not performed.
The degradation rate constants used in the assessment are:
Degradation for hydrolysis
Degradation for photolysis
Degradation rate in air
Degradation rate in the STP
Degradation rate in surface water
Degradation rate in aerated sediment
Degradation rate in soil
The Koc of AC-6000 determined using the HPLC-method is 19,600 (log value = 4.29). This value is used in the assessment.
Further studies on transport and distribution of AC-6000 in the environment are not available
The bioconcentration of AC-6000 in fish was studied according to OECD guideline 305 (Kurume Laboratory, 2006b). Bioaccumulation of AC-6000 in carp (Cyprinus carpio) was tested at 0.1 and 1 μg/L under flow-through conditions. The steady-state bioconcentration factors (BCF) were 2,400 L/kg at 0.1 μg/L and 2,600 L/kg at 1 μg/L. The BCF of 2,600 L/kg is used in the assessment.
