Additional information - workers

The DNELs for local inhalation effects are based on the corresponding DNELs that are available for hydrogen peroxide, taking into account that:

a) according to the stoichiometry of the hydrolysis reaction of magnesium peroxide, an equimolar amount of hydrogen peroxide is formed; and that

b) the reaction mass of magnesium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide and magnesium oxide and magnesium peroxide typically contains 37% of magnesium peroxide.

Worker – inhalation – local effects – long term

DNEL (hydrogen peroxide):                      1.4 mg/m3

a) stoichiometrie

1.4 mg hydrogen peroxide                        = 4.116E-05 mol hydrogen peroxide

= 4.116E-05 mol magnesium peroxide

4.116E-05 mol magnesium peroxide          = 2.3 mg magnesium peroxide

DNEL (magnesium peroxide)                    = 2.3 mg/m3

b) composition of reaction mass

DNEL (magnesium peroxide)                    = 2.3 mg/m3

DNEL (reaction mass)                             = 6.2 mg/m3

The worker long-term DNEL for local effects following inhalation of the reaction mass of magnesium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide and magnesium oxide and magnesium peroxide is:

DNEL (reaction mass)                             = 6.2 mg/m3

Worker – inhalation – local effects – short term

DNEL (hydrogen peroxide):                      3.0 mg/m3

a) stoichiometrie

3.0 mg hydrogen peroxide                        = 8.821E-05 mol hydrogen peroxide

= 8.821E-05 mol magnesium peroxide

8.821E-05 mol magnesium peroxide          = 5.00 mg magnesium peroxide

DNEL (magnesium peroxide)                    = 5.00 mg/m3

b) composition of reaction mass

DNEL (magnesium peroxide)                    = 5.00 mg/m3

DNEL (reaction mass)                             = 13.4 mg/m3

The worker short-term DNEL for local effects following inhalation of the reaction mass of magnesium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide and magnesium oxide and magnesium peroxide therefore is:

DNEL (reaction mass)                             = 13.4 mg/m3
