Description of key information

Log Pow is taken as 2.8 at 25 deg C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
2.8
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

Experimental values of 2.8 (Chilworth - shake flask) and 2.7/3.6 (Dybdahl - hplc) have been obtained in unbuffered solution. The calculated values are 5.35 and 7.3. These differences illustrate the difficulties in establishing log Pow values for chemically modified rosins, i.e. chemically modified UVCB substances. In view of their consistency, the experimental values for log Pow have been preferred to the calculated values.

The wide range of partition coefficient values for the substances is due to the chemical structures of the ingredients, as they are composed of ionisable organic acids. The substance is a UVCB and therefore can exhibit more than one peak and log Kow value.
