Description of key information

1,1'-(p-tolylimino)dipropan-2-ol shows a melting range from about 30 °C up to 101 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A GLP study was conducted in accordance with the OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals. 102 "Melting Point / Melting Range" using the Differential Scanning Calorimetry. A glass transition in the 1st heating at -33 °C shows the semicrystalline nature of the test item. A glass transition in the 2nd heating was found at -12 °C. An exotherrnic peak in the 2nd heating at about 40 °C peaktemperature, shows the partly recrystallization of the test item. An endothermic peak in the 2nd and 3rd heating at about 82 °C peaktemperature shows the melting of the crystalline part of the test item. To survey the thermic behaviour of the test item a TG/DSC-Test (non-GLP) was run up to 460 °C. An exothermic peak starting at about 150 °C with the weight lass of about 97 % shows the vaporization/decomposition of the test item. The estimated accuracy is ± 2 °C.
