Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General advice : Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance. First aider needs to protect himself. Place affected clothing in a sealed bag for subsequent decontamination.
Inhalation : If inhaled, remove to fresh air. Consult a physician if necessary.
Skin contact : Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash off with soap and plenty of water.
Eye contact : Rinse with running water whilst keeping the eyes wide open (at least 15 minutes) If eye irritation persists, consult a physician.
Ingestion : Do NOT induce vomiting. Rinse mouth with water.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media : Water spray, Foam, Multi-purpose powders, Carbon dioxide (CO2).
Unsuitable extinguishing media : High volume water jet.
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
Specific hazards during fire fighting : Risk of dust explosion. On combustion, toxic gases are released.
Special protective equipment for fire-fighters : Wear self contained breathing apparatus for fire fighting if necessary. Personal protective equipment comprising: suitable protective gloves, safety goggles and protective clothing.
Specific fire fighting methods : Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Remove all sources of ignition. Do not breathe dust. Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes. Wear suitable protective equipment. Respirator with a particle filter (EN 143) Tightly fitting safety goggles. Wear suitable gloves.
Environmental precautions : Dam up. Prevent product from entering drains.
Methods for Cleaning or Taking Up. Prohibition : As far as possible, do NOT spray packaging which has been damaged or overturned with water.
Recovery : Contain spillage, and then collect with an electrically protected vacuum cleaner or by wet-brushing and place in container for disposal according to local regulations (see section 13). Shovel into suitable container for disposal.
Decontamination/cleaning : Wash the non-recoverable remainder with sodium carbonate solution (5 % Na2 CO3). Recover the cleaning water for subsequent disposal.
Disposal : Dispose of in accordance with local regulations.
Handling and storage
Handling. Technical measures : Provide sufficient air exchange and/or exhaust in work rooms. Earth the equipment.
Advice on safe handling and usage : Prevent the build-up of electrostatic charge. Avoid dust formation. Keep away from fire, sparks and heated surfaces. Routine housekeeping should be instituted to ensure that dusts do not accumulate on surfaces. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Dust explosion class : St2
Storage. Technical Measures for storage : No special storage conditions required.
Storage conditions: Recommended : Stable under normal conditions. Keep container tightly closed. Keep in a cool, well-ventilated place. Protect from moisture. Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition. Keep away from incompatible materials to be indicated by the manufacturer. Store in original container.
Incompatible products : Strong oxidizing agents.
Packaging Measures: Packaging materials - Recommended : Water-resistant materials.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Control measures, Engineering measures : Effective exhaust ventilation system
Personal protective equipment, Respiratory protection : Use a respirator with an approved filter if a risk assessment indicates this is necessary. Hand protection : Where there is a risk of contact with hands, use appropriate gloves The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it. Please observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. Also take into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the danger of cuts, abrasion, and the contact time. Gloves must be inspected prior to use.
Eye protection : Tightly fitting safety goggles.
Skin and body protection : Antistatic clothing. Choose body protection according to the amount and concentration of the dangerous substance at the work place.
Hygiene measures : Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location. Regular cleaning of equipment, work area and clothing. Use clean, well-maintained personal protection equipment. When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.
Protective measures : The protective equipment must be selected in accordance with current CEN standards and in cooperation with the supplier of the protective equipment. Selection of appropriate personal protective equipment should be based on an evaluation of the performance characteristics of the protective equipment relative to the task(s) to be performed, conditions present, duration of use, and the potential hazards and/or risks that may occur during use.
Stability and reactivity
Chemical stability : Stable under normal conditions.
Hazardous reactions
Materials to avoid : Strong oxidizing agents
Decomposition products : On combustion or on thermal thermal decomposition (pyrolysis) releases: (Carbon oxides (CO + CO2))
Disposal considerations
Product Disposal
Prohibition : Should not be released into the environment.
Advice on Disposal : Dispose of in accordance with local regulations.
Advice on cleaning and disposal of packaging
Measures for waste avoidance. : Do not dispose of the product at a rubbish tip.
Advice : Empty the packaging completely prior to disposal.
Reason for waste disposal : Dispose of contents/ container to an approved waste disposal plant.
Other data : Dispose of in accordance with local regulations.
