First-aid measures

Description of first aid.
General tips:
Consult a doctor. Show this safety card to the attending physician.

Inhalation:
In case of inhalation, move the person outdoors. If you do not breathe, give artificial respiration. Consult a doctor.
Contact with eyes:
Wash your eyes with water as a precaution for at least 15 min.
Skin contact:
Remove contaminated clothing immediately. Wash with soap and plenty of water. Consult a doctor.
Ingestion:
Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Do not induce vomiting. Rinse the mouth with water. Consult a doctor.

Main symptoms and effects, acute and delayed.
Symptoms after exposure to this compound may include weakness, dizziness, depression, collapse, cyanosis (due to the formation of methemoglobin when the substance is absorbed into the body), sweating, gastric irritation, chills, drop in blood pressure, jaundice, coma, seizures, weight loss, insomnia, shortness of breath, aplastic anemia and damage to the liver, kidneys, the heart and central nervous system.

ACUTE/CHRONIC RISKS: This compound is moderately toxic by ingestion. When heated to decomposition, it emits toxic fumes.

Indication of any medical care and special treatment to be provided immediately.
Basic treatment: Establish a patent airway (oropharyngeal or nasopharyngeal, if necessary). Suck if necessary. Monitor for signs of respiratory failure and assist ventilations if necessary. Administer oxygen by non-respiratory mask of 10 to 15 L/min. Monitor for shock and treat it if necessary. Anticipate seizures and treat them if necessary. In case of eye pollution, wash your eyes immediately with water. Irrigate each eye continuously with 0.9% saline (NS) during transport. Do not use emetics. If swallowed, rinse the mouth and administer 5 mL/kg up to 200 mL of water for dilution if the patient can swallow, has a strong gag reflex and does not drool. Administer activated charcoal. Aniline and related compounds.

Fire-fighting measures

Means of extinction.
Recommended extinguishing media.
Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical, or carbon dioxide.

Special Risks. Fire can produce thick black smoke. As a consequence of thermal decomposition, dangerous products can be formed: carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide. Exposure to combustion or decomposition products can be harmful to health. (Carbon oxides, nitrogen oxides (NOx)).

Recommendations for firefighting personnel.
High temperatures can lead to high pressures inside closed containers. Avoid inhaling fumes or vapors that are generated. Use appropriate breathing apparatus. Depending on its magnitude, also wear heat protection suits, gloves, goggles or face masks and boots. Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus for firefighting if necessary.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures.
Use personal protective equipment. Avoid the formation of dust. Avoid breathing vapors, mists or gases.
Ensure adequate ventilation. Evacuate staff to safe areas. Avoid breathing dust.

Environmental precautions.
Prevent further leaks or spills if it is safe to do so. Do not let the product go down the drains.

Containment and cleaning methods and material.
Collect and organize disposal without creating dust. Keep in suitable containers
Containers suitable and closed for disposal.

Reference to Other Sections.
For exposure control and personal protective measures, see section 8.
For waste disposal, follow the recommendations in section 13.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling.
Handle in a well-ventilated place. Wear appropriate protective clothing. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid the formation of dust and aerosols. Use tools that do not produce sparks. Avoid fire caused by electrostatic discharge steam.

Secure Storage Conditions, including possible incompatibilities.
PRECAUTIONS FOR "CARCINOGENS":
Carcinogens should be stored in a single section of the cupboard, a refrigerator or an explosion-proof freezer (depending on physico-chemical properties). Store in a cool place. Keep the container tightly closed in a dry, well-ventilated place.
An inventory should be kept showing the amount of carcinogen and the date on which it was purchased. Dispensing facilities must be adjacent to the storage area.
The storage site should be as close as possible to the laboratory in which they are to be used, so as to reduce their handling

High efficiency particulate filter (HEPA) or charcoal filters should be used to minimize the amount of carcinogens in ventilated air in safety cabinets, laboratory hoods, glove boxes, or animal rooms. The filter must have a housing that is designed so that the used filters can be transferred to a plastic bag without contaminating the personnel who are handling it. Filters should be placed in plastic bags immediately after removal. The plastic bag should be sealed immediately and labeled properly.

Specific End Uses.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters:
Components with control parameters in the workplace.

Exposure controls:
Appropriate technical controls:
Handle in accordance with good industrial safety and hygiene practices. Wash your hands before breaks and at the end of the workday.
Personal protective equipment
Eye/facial protection
Safety glasses with side protection according to EN166. Use eye protection equipment tested and approved to appropriate government standards, such as NIOSH (USA) or EN 166 (EU).
Skin protection
Handle with gloves. Gloves should be inspected before use. Use proper technique to remove gloves (without touching the outer surface of the glove) to avoid skin contact with this product. Dispose of contaminated gloves after use in accordance with applicable laws and good laboratory practices. Wash and dry your hands. The protective gloves selected must comply with Directive 89/686/EEC and the EN 374 standard derived therefrom.
Protection of the body
Full chemical protective suit, the type of protective equipment should be selected based on the concentration and amount of the hazardous substance in the specific workplace.
Respiratory protection
When the risk assessment shows that air-purifying respirators are suitable, use an N100 (US) or P3 (EN 143) full-face particulate respirator to support engineering technical controls . If the respirator is the only means of protection, use a respirator with an air supply that covers the entire face.
Use respirators and components tested and approved to appropriate government standards, such as NIOSH (USA) or CEN (EU).
