Experimental techniques are available for the determination of partition coefficient of a substance or preparation. These are described in EC Test A8 as Shake flask method and HPLC method. However, the A8 test cannot to be carried out because the sample react with water. As a result, an estimation based on calculation is carried out.

Estimated Log P (mean) of the test substance prepolymer phase is 5.61
Conclusions:
A log Pow value for the substance has been determined. However, given the reactivity of MDI in the aquatic environment and its transient existence in water, the log Pow has little direct relevance to the calculation of its environmental fate and ecotoxicity.
