- study technically not feasible
- Justification for data waiving:
- the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
- Endpoint:
- substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Reliability:
- 1 (reliable without restriction)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- guideline study
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- EU Method A.12 (Flammability (Contact with Water))
- Version / remarks:
- March 04, 2016.
- Deviations:
- no
- GLP compliance:

- Specific details on test material used for the study:
- Batch No.: 707001
Purity: 98.5% - Test procedure:
- step 1
- step 2
- step 3
- step 4
- Identity of evolved gas:
- not applicable as no gas evolved
- Interpretation of results:
- not classified based on GHS criteria
- Conclusions:
- No evolution of a gas of the test item in contact with water was observed in Test 1, Test 2, Test 3 and Test 4.
In conclusion, the test item is "not highly flammable" in contact with water. - Executive summary:
The full test was performed to monitor the reactivity of test item in contact with water according to EC A12.
No evolution of a gas of the test item in contact with water was observed in Test 1, Test 2, Test 3 and Test 4.
In conclusion, the test item is "not highly flammable" in contact with water.
- Endpoint:
- flammable liquids: obsolete as covered by section 'Flash point'
- Data waiving:
- study technically not feasible
- Justification for data waiving:
- the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
- Endpoint:
- pyrophoric liquids
- Data waiving:
- study scientifically not necessary / other information available
- Justification for data waiving:
- the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

- flammable
Additional information
Justification for classification or non-classification
Flammable liquids:
Flash point (closed cup), ASTM D3278: 11.8°C
Boiling point, OECD 103 (photocell detection): 130.9°C.
In accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 section 2.6.1, this substance should be classified as category 2 for flammable liquid.
Pyrophoric liquids:
The substance is known to be stable at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days).
Therefore, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008, section 2.9.4.1., this substance should not be classified as pyrophoric liquids.
Substances and mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases: EC A12, evolution of gases was not observed.
In accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 section 2.12.2.2, a substance or mixture shall be classified as a substance or mixture which in contact with water emits flammable gases if spontaneous ignition takes place in any step of the test procedure. Therefore, the substance is not classified as a substance which in contact with water emits flammable gases.
