PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

n-butyl propionate is readily biodegradable as reported in an OECD 301F Test, has low potential for bioaccumulation with a Log Pow of 2.67,and has a low potential for absorption based on a QSAR prediction. Algal NOEC values were >0.01 at 72 and 96 hours and the lowest acute toxicity value was reported for fish at 6.89 mg/L in a flow through study based on mean measured concentrations. Based on this information n-butyl propionate is not expected to be persistent, bioaccumulative or toxicity in the environment, therefore the substance is not considered to be PBT/vPvB.
