- Endpoint:
- auto-ignition temperature (liquids)
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- 2014-01-28 to 2014-01-30
- Reliability:
- 1 (reliable without restriction)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- guideline study
- Remarks:
- The study was conducted according to EU/DIN method, and under GLP. No significant deviation was reported. Test substance is adequately specified with purity. Therefore full validation applies.
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- EU Method A.15 (Auto-Ignition Temperature (Liquids and Gases))
- Deviations:
- yes
- Remarks:
- time lag before ignition not reported
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- other: DIN 51794 (2003): Determination of ignition temperature
- Principles of method if other than guideline:
- Not applicable
- GLP compliance:
- yes (incl. QA statement)
- Remarks:
- inspected on January 22 and 23, 2013 / signed on March 22, 2013
- Key result
- Auto-ignition temperature:
- ca. 265 °C
- Atm. press.:
- ca. 992 - ca. 998.4 hPa
- Conclusions:
- This parameter/method is not relevant for classification, however the information is useful regarding potential additional fire hazard. No particular hazard is anticipated in normal conditions of storage.
- Executive summary:
The substance was tested for its autoflammable properties, according to EU guideline A.15 and Standard DIN 51794. Test material was injected into a heated flask, until the lowest temperature at which ignition occurs was determined. Three main test series were performed.
The test material has been determined to have an auto-ignition temperature of 415 °C at 989.6 -996.0 hPa.
Reference
Preliminary Test
In the preliminary test, the lowest temperature at which an ignition occurred was 418 °C.

Results are within the required range of 20 °C, therefore the validity criterion is fulfilled.
According to observations in the main test series, the auto-ignition temperature rounded down with an accuracy of 5 °C was determined to be 415 °C.
Description of key information
No particular hazard is anticipated in normal conditions of storage.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
- 415 °C
Additional information
A fully reliable experimental study, conducted according to a recognized EC/DIN method, is available. Therefore it is considered as a key study, and the result is retained as key data.
This parameter is not relevant for classification; however the information is useful regarding potential additional fire hazard.
